2018 Halcyon Chamber Orchestra Summer Festival

Halcyon Strings School of Music is pleased to announce that the Fourth Annual Halcyon Summer Chamber Orchestra Festival will take place at St. Dunstan’s church in North Seattle August 20th-26th, 2018.

Orchestra rehearsals take place every day from 9 am until noon.  Students are encouraged but not required to stay for the afternoon chamber music session in which they will be divided in to smaller ensembles to rehearse chamber music with coaches that will be played in the final concert.   The final concert will be on Saturday.

Masterclasses and sectionals will be taught by some of our area’s finest music teachers, including faculty from Halcyon Strings School of Music and members of the Ballard Civic Orchestra.  We provide a fun, yet focused atmosphere where students and teachers work together towards our goal of performing a final concert that we can all be proud of.
The festival is open primarily to middle school and high school students who meet the proficiency requirements listed below.   Younger students may also be accepted if they meet the proficiency requirements.  No auditions are required.

Concerto Competition- We will be auditioning for soloists to play a movement of a concerto of their choice.  The only requirement is that the concerto must be orchestrated for string orchestra.  Concerti with multiple soloists are allowed.  We will announce up to three winners following the auditions in July.
